Rachael's Ribbons of Hope is founded by family and friends of Rachael Newton. Our mission is to raise funds for brain tumor research and heighten public awareness of this devastating disease in the hopes of finding a cure.
We are pleased to annouce that as of March 12, 2008 we have been formally recognized by the IRS as a public charity under 501.c.3 status. We started this foundation to continue what Rachael had wanted to do, raise money to aid in research for a cure.
We are starting with a board of five members that all share the same goals. Lynette Newton, Chairperson, mother to Rachael; Jenny Lehl, Vice Chairperson, family friend; Melissa Barczik, Treasurer, family friend; Bonny Robley, Secretary, Rachael's cousin; Ryan Robley, board member, Rachael's cousin by marriage; Dr. Roger Packer, MD, Director of the Brain Tumor Institute, Rachael's neurologist. We are starting out a new and small foundation but hope to grow quickly.
We are partnered with The Brain Tumor Institute at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., which is ran by Dr. Roger Packer MD.
We've watched not only Rachael but other friends and family battle cancer and its treatments. We want to not only make people aware of the disease but help researchers find better treatments with less side effects and hopefully one day a cure.
Rachael's Ribbons of Hope Foundation is registered in Colorado as a nonprofit corporation. Rachael's Ribbons of Hope Foundation is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
