Revving it for Rachael Car and Motorcycle Show:
Saturday, September 3, 2011 10am-2pm
University Village Colorado Shopping Center

This was a fun event!  We had about 26 vehicles come out, we gave out prizes for different categories, and had a variety of cars, trucks and motorcycles there.  I will be putting pictures up here when we get a new computer, I'm working off my phone and mini laptop right now since our main computer went out on Monday.  Saturday morning the truck that had all our equipment for setting up had a dead battery after getting it jumped we were about a half an hour late getting set up done.  Anyone that was out might have seen a baby blue '65 Mustang that is in the restore process, that's my son's car.  On the way home from the event the front drivers tire came off, bounced across 3 lanes of traffic and landed in a field.  We were so lucky that it didn't happen on the interstate!  They were coming on base, so were slowing down for the gate.  The tire didn't hit any other cars, no one was hurt just the front quarter panel was damaged.  I will put pictures on that on here too later.

Macy's Shop for a Cause:   Shop For A Cause gives you the opportunity to give back to your community and to help our organization.  Saturday, August 27th, this was the first time we participated in Shop for a Cause and the first time I have shopped during this event.  Found some great deals and had alot of fun.  We will hopefully be participating again next year!

Golf Tournament:   The Heritage for Hope Classic Golf Tournament was Monday, August 8th, 2011 benefiting the Manitou Springs Heritage Center and Rachael's Ribbons of Hope Foundation.

I'm sorry to report that this event was not a success.  Due to the fact that we lost money on this event we will not be hosting another golf tournament in the future.

Annual Running for Rachael 5K:

Rachael’s Ribbons of Hope Foundation hosted the 4th Annual Running for Rachael 5k on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Falcon Stadium on the Air Force Academy. This year was not just a 5k run/walk but a family event that had something for everyone. The course itself is one that is scenic yet challenging with an uphill climb to a downhill finish. The event activities are just as exciting.

This year began with the Shriners of Southern Colorado presenting the colors while local resident Tiffany Rodwell sang the National Anthem. The runners were then escorted around the course by two pace cars, a Porsche Carrera 4 and a ’67 Malibu convertible, driven by their owners. Tommy Manning finished the run at 16:42, coming in first for the men while 14 year old Tabor Scholl finished first for the women at 19:24.

Laura Carr and the 16 other members of Team Roger were once again present to participate in the loving memory of Laura’s late husband who passed away six years ago from a brain tumor. They have been a fixture for the past four years and are always a joy to see.

At the conclusion of the run/walk, the close to 200 attendees enjoyed food grilled by Brady’s Rentals and drinks provided by Honest Beverages and 5 Hour Energy. They also had the opportunity to visit with other vendors such as Scentsy, Perfect Fit, and American Laser. Structure Therapeutic and Align for Life Chiropractic were also out demonstrating their services. The 501st Stormtroopers and a Shriners clown provided great entertainment for the kids of all ages! Hooters of North Colorado Springs also sent representatives who not only ran in the 5k but assisted with presenting the winners plaques and the drawings of over 35 prizes.

Rachael's Ribbons of Hope was able to donate $3000.00 to the Brain Tumor Institute from this years run!  Thanks to everyone that came out and supported our event.

All in all the event was a roaring success; the weather was in full cooperation and seeing everyone who came out to support pediatric brain tumor research was truly special and inspires us to do more. We look forward to doing it all over again next year!

On October 18, 2010 was our Annual Silent Auction at Hooters.  We had a fun night and had lots of items for bidding.  We were able to donate $1300.00 the total we raised from this event to the Brain Tumor Institute.

Our 1st Charity Golf Tournament was at Gleneagle Golf Club on September 9, 2010.  We had a fun day, and the weather was great.  After the costs of the golf tournament we raised $775.00, that entire amount was donated to the Brain Tumor Institute.

We would like to give a special THANK YOU to all our golfers, I hope you had as much fun as we did!  Also to the Hooter Girls that where such a big help!  And of course we can't forget to thank Billye Adams, without his help there wouldn't have been a golf tournament!

We are going to start planning for next year, check back here for updates.

We would like to thank the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Blue Star Recycling, and everyone that came out to support Rachael's Ribbons of Hope Foundation.  We had a good day and will be planning to do this recycling event again next year so save your electronic!
