Rachael's Ribbons of Hope

Rachael, November 2006This website is dedicated to the memory of Rachael Newton. Rachael was diagnosed with a brainstem tumor when she was 4 years old. She was stable until she was 12 years old, at which time she began having migraines and dizzy spells. MRI showed that the tumor had grown and shifted. She underwent surgery in 2004 but they were not able to remove the tumor, only biopsy it to tell that it was a mixed glioma benign. One year later an MRI found that there were new tumors on her spine, a biopsy of these showed to be astrocytoma stage III. She started treatment for the tumors, chemotherapy and radiation. Rachael passed away in March of 2007, at the young age of 14.

Rachael had a wonderful personality, people fell in love with her imediately. She was smiling all the time and loved to give hugs. Rachael loved to make things, she was always crafting something. She wanted to be a fashion designer, she loved to draw and was always drawing new outfits and accessories for her fashion line. Rachael was always wanting to help everyone, that is why she started making things that she could sell and give the money to her doctors for research. Not for herself, but for all the others out there with cancer. That is why I feel so strongly about this foundation, as her mother, I want to continue what she started. I hope that with the money the foundation raises will help find the treatments and cure so that other families will not have to go through what my family has had too.

Rachael will be remembered, loved and missed by many.
